MISSION VISI0N 21
THE FOURTH WORLD MISSION
(THE LAST MISSION MOVEMENT)

¡á THE ERA OF 21C LAY-MISSIONARY WILL BEGIN!

In the light of the historical stream according to the whole times, the ages of lay-missionary will be coming soon. In fact, until now, the gospel of God has been preached throughout the world by the professional missionaries (minister-missionaries), who were so called as the servants of the Lord. But \"the last mission movement\" riding on \"the last mission wave\" in order that the gospel of God will be preached to all the nations as the Lord prophesied, will spread out (Matt. 24:14; Mark 13:10; Rev. 11:3-10).

Therefore the ages of the lay-missionary riding on the wave will come because \"the Fourth World\" riding on the fourth wave beyond \"the Third World\" riding on the third wave will come on the face of the earth in the light of the historical stream of the human civilization, and the trend of the mission which has been prophesied in the Bible. \"The Fourth World\" in mission is different from the concept of \"the Third World Mission\" which has been limited, and led by the professional missionaries so called minister-missionaries.

(1) Concept of the Third World Mission

In the Bible, Daniel spoke, saying when the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea, four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other, and the first was like a lion, a second beast like a bear, a third beast like a leopard, and a fourth beast like a dreadful, terrible, and exceedingly strong beast (Dan. 7:2-7; Zec. 6:5; Rev. 7:1).
The four nations were symbolized as the four beasts were identified with Babylon, Persia, Hella, and Rome which had appeared on the face of the earth in history. The fifth nation \"the kingdom of the saints\" (Dan. 7:22; 26-27) by the first Advent of the Lord Jesus Christ next to the Rome so called the fourth nation has been established spiritually.
And in the last day, the last earthly kingdom, the universal kingdom of the fourth beast, and \"the Great Babylon\" identified with \"the Great Harlot\" which will be formed by the force of the red Dragon in the later half of \"the Fourth World\" will appear and be the Anti-christ. After that, the fifth nation \"the kingdom of saints\" by the Second Advent of the Lord will be completed (Dan. 7:17; 22, 26-27; Rev. 13:).

In the modern sense, these nations may be defined as the concepts of the First World, the Second World, the Third World, the Fourth World, and the Fifth World coming up riding on the first wave, the second wave, the third wave, the fourth wave, and the fifth wave. This way may be a method of waved-historical approach. From the viewpoint of the interconnections, the present time faces the edge of \"the Third World\"(Alvin Toffler) and it is going to be turning to \"the Fourth World.\" Thus, as mentioned above, \"the Fourth World\" coming up riding on the fourth wave will begin in the 21 century.

The concept of \"the Third World\" has several characteristics. First of all, it includes the areas of non-democratization in political system, underdevelopment in economy, uncivilization (barbarization) in culture, non-Christians in mission, and Latin America, Africa and a part of Asia in locality of the world.

On the ground of these matters, all churches of the world have been preaching the gospel of God and making their target of the mission focused on \"the Third World Mission.\" But in the future (21th century), all these restrictions, namely political ideology, trade barriers in economy, the distinction between the nations, and geographical walls have been broken, and it begins to approach to \"the times of transcendence,\" that is to say, \"the times of globalization\" which has been forming \"the one global village\" that the world is one(One World Government?). Therefore. now \"the Third World Mission Movement\" has been faded little by little. Because the times of \"the Fourth World\" riding on the fourth wave of human history is coming up as mentioned above.

(2) Concept of the Fourth World Mission

As mentioned above, the concept of \"the Fourth World\" means the universal and spiritual world which transcends the whole things, that is to say, the political, economical, cultural, and geographical one because it is not the world restricted by them (Maynard, Mehrtens). \"The Fourth World\" may be defined as \"the world of the people (unbelievers) which have not received the Lord Jesus Christ\" until now (C. Peter Wagner). The age of \"the Fourth World\" is the times of an universal, mental, and spiritual struggles which will be expanded along with the post-ideology in politics, the post-industrialization in economy, and the informationization in communication.

The first half of \"the Fourth World\" will be the times of \"the last mission movement\" when the gospel of God will be preached to all the nations as the Lord prophesied (Mark 13:19; Matt. 24:14; Rev. 11:3-10). The latter half of \"the Fourth World\" will be \"the world of the universal Anti-christ\" because \"the evangelic movement\" defined as \"the last mission movement\" will be completed along with the death of the two witnesses (two olive trees and two lamp-stands) by the beast that will ascend out of the bottomless pit after they will finish their testimony (their mission) (Rev. 11:3-10).

All the saints on the face of the whole world will be persecuted by the Anti-christ during the great tribulation until the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rev. 11:7-9; 13:1-18; Dan. 7:20-21, 23-25; 8:9-13; 9:27). It will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth (Luke 21:35). It will be the great tribulation of the saints (Matt. 24:21; Rev. 14:7; 11:7-9).

Therefore the last mission waves for preaching the gospel to all nations will rise and over-spread throughout the world before the Anti-christ will appear on the earth as Daniel the Prophet and John the Apostle did definitely prophesy. Of course, the period of the last mission cannot be known because it was used by the symbolical meaning such as three and a half days, three and a half years, a time and times and half a time, one thousand two hundred and sixty days, and forty months (Dan. 7:25; 9:27; Rev. 11:2-3, 9, 11; 13:4).
Of course, after \"the Fourth World,\" the Kingdom of the Advent\" defined as \"the Fifth World\" will come upon the earth. This is \"the kingdom of the saints.\" This kingdom is called \"a Millenium\" by the premillenialists (historical and dispensational), but is called\" a New Heaven and a New Earth\" by the amillenialists.
(3) Strategy for the Fourth World Mission

\"The Fourth World Mission\" must start in our home according to the basic strategy \"in Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth\" that the Lord ordered to Apostles. And then, they should be our neighbours and Korean people of our nation and the Korean immigrants in the United States of America (80% over including North Korea) to whom we should preach the gospel. We should plan the strategy for the unbelievers which do not receive the Lord Jesus Christ until now (home mission). And we should plan the strategy for the unbelievers who has been spread throughout the world (world mission).
First of all, the strategy for the home mission must be linked to the evangelization of our nation using \"the first mission base camp\"(M1) for mission set up in the local churches in which the lay-missionaries can be trained and made practical application to the ministry fields.

Second, the strategy for the world mission must be linked to the evangelization of the world using \"the second mission base camp\"(M2) for mission set up in the churches of the mission fields in which the lay-missionaries of the native nations can be trained and preach the gospel to their own people.

Third, the strategy for the world mission must be linked to the evangelization of the world using \"the third mission base camp\"(M3) for mission set up in the churches of the natives in which the lay-people of the natives can be trained, and preach the gospel to their own people. It will be the strategy making a great contribution to the expansion of the universal Kingdom of God as well as the growth of Korean church.

In fact, the growing rate of Korean church has been decreasing because it has depended upon the transfer-growth that they have competed with each other for bring the churched (believers) into their churches while they have neglected the strategy for the evangelism to the unchurched or unbelievers (conversion growth).

Now, it has come to the time when we carry out the mission of \"the Fourth World Mission\" for the purpose of expanding \"the universal Kingdom of God\" which will be completed along with the Second Advent of the Lord as well as the whole growth of Korean church. It is the worldly mission according to the needs of the times including our local churches and the Korean churches.

(4) Leading Role of the Fourth World Mission

In the light of the theoretical study and the practical possibility, the leading part of \"the Fourth World Mission\" will be the role of the lay-missionaries. Of course, the professional ministers(pastors) must carry out their mission training and following up the lay-missionaries. The reasons why lay-missionary should carry out the mission for preaching the gospel to all the nations are as follows:

(1) the professional minister-missionaries are beyond their ability to harvest the people of God in the wide field of the whole world in which embraces the national and international areas because they are limited in number, while lay-workers expanded throughout the whole world may be employed without limit in the churches of the whole world.

(2) Minister-missionaries need so many times and so much money in order to be trained, and to carry out their mission, while lay-missionaries do not need so many times and the whole expense for training, and carrying out their mission because they have their job personally.

(3) Minister-missionaries are alienated from the unbelievers belonging to the fourth world, while lay-missionaries may be ease to approach to unbelievers because they have an intimate relationship with the unbelievers.

(4) Only the professional training center for the minister-missionaries can train them, while lay-missionaries can be trained at the training center in every church through the discipleship training.

Due to such reasons, the part of \"the fourth mission\" in the future must be put to the role of the lay-missionaries. It means that the lay-people must be made as lay-missionaries in order to be sent into the harvest fields of the whole world. Jesus commanded the Apostles to \"pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.\" (Matt. 9:38; 28:19-20; Luke 10:2; Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17-21).
