[A hard saying to understand] (16) (Did you receive the Holy Spirit when believing?) (너희가 믿을 때 성령을 받았느냐?) ①
Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? (Acts 19:2)
It is true that many of the saints do not fully understand the subject of \\"receiving the Holy Spirit\\" because they do not have the perfect knowledge about that. Some people insist that the texts (Act. Chapter 8: & 19:) mean the words about the people who do not receive the baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus but only in the name of John the Baptist. But It cannot be persuaded in the light of the words \\"They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord\\" (Acts 8:16), and \\"have not so much heard whether there is a Holy Spirit\\" (Acts 19:2). In order to precisely understand on the Holy Spirit whom the Apostles have emphasized in the Acts, I think, it is necessary to have (1) the analysis of the texts, and (2) the theological arrangement as follow:
(1) The analysis of the Texts (Acts 19:2; 8:16)
If arranging the significant wordings of the texts, they already ① had received the words of God (Acts 8:14), ② believed and received the baptism in the name of the Lord, ③ but for as yet He had fallen upon none of them (Acts 8:16), ④ have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit (Acts 19:2), ⑤ heard and saw the miracles through the works of Philip (Acts 8:6; 8:7), ⑥ prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:15), and ⑦ prayed and laid hands on them, and then they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:6; 8:17). This words may be summarized as (1) the baptism with water and the Holy Spirit, and (2) the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Of course, we must fully understand the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the fill of the Holy Spirit, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. But theologically summarizing, the works of the Holy Spirit may be arranged such as (1) the work of regeneration, (2) the work of sanctification, and (3) the work of empowerment(charismata) in the works of the Holy Spirit.
(2) Theological Arrangement (Especially, Systematic theological Arrangement)
The systematic theological understanding of the Bible may be mostly summarized in the three aspects. In other words, it may be summarized in the aspects of (1) regenerating Spirit through the same Spirit, (2) sanctifying Spirit through the same Spirit, and (3) empowering Spirit through the same Spirit. I am going simply to explain the subjects for want of space. to be continued
[이해하기 어려운 말씀] (16) (너희가 믿을 때 성령을 받았느냐?) ①
너희가 믿을 때 성령을 받았느냐? (행 19:2)
성도들 중에 많은 사람들이 성령에 관한 온전한 지식이 부족하여 성령 받는 문제를 이해하지 못하고 있는 것이 사실이다. 어떤 이들은 주장하기를 본문은 “요한의 이름”으로 세례를 받았을 뿐, “주의 이름”으로 세례를 받지 못한 사람들에 관한 말씀이라고 한다. 그러나 이 주장은 “주의 이름”으로 세례만 받았을 뿐 성령이 있음도 듣지 못했다는 말씀(행 8:16; 19:2)에 비추어 보아 설득력이 없다. 사도행전에서 사도들이 강조한 성령에 관하여 정확하게 이해하려면 (1) 본문분석과 (2) 신학적인 정리가 필요하다고 본다.
(1) 본문 분석 (행 19:2; 8:16)
본문들 중에서 중요한 워딩들을 논리정연하게 이어보면, 그들이 ① 이미 하나님의 말씀을 받았고(행 8:14), ② 믿고 주의 이름으로 세례는 받았으나(행 8:12; 8:16), ③ 아직 한 사람에게도 성령 내리신 일이 없어서(행 8:16), ④ 성령이 있음을 듣지도 못하였는데(행 19:2), ⑤ 빌립을 통하여 성령의 능력(표적)이 나타났음으로(행 8:6, 8:7) ⑥ 성령 받기를 기도하고(행 8:15), ⑦ 안수함으로 성령을 받아 방언도 하고 예언도 했다고 했다(행 8:17; 8:6). 이 말씀들은 (1) 물세례와 성령세례 (2) 성령의 은사로 요약된다. 물론, 성령의 세례, 성령의 충만, 성령의 은사 등등에 관한 올바른 이해도 있어야 할 것이다. 그러나 신학적으로 요약하자면, 성령의 사역으로 (1) 중생의 사역과 (2) 성화의 사역, 그리고 (3) 능력(은사)의 사역으로 요약 정리할 수 있다.
(2) 신학적 정리 (특히 조직신학적 정리)
성경에 나타난 성령에 관한 조직신학적인 이해는 크게 세 가지로 요약된다. 다시 말하면, 같은 성령으로 말미암아 (1) 중생시키는 성령(regenerating Spirit), (2) 성화시키는 성령(sanctifying Spirit), (3) 능력(히 12:은사) 주시는 성령(empowering Spirit)으로 요약할 수 있다. 제한된 지면관계로 여기서는 간단하게 요약하여 설명하려고 한다. - 계속 -
