축복 기도 못하겠다 (I Can’t Pray for Blessings)- 영어/한글
Christians are rapidly decreasing in number, and evangelism is getting harder and harder in Korea.
We can enumerate many reasons for this phenomenon, but I think the main reason is that most people now live comfortable lives. It is said that spiritual interests decline in proportion to the future becoming more predictable. Europe and the US are proving this axiom to be true, and Korea will be the next to prove it.
Thus I am hesitant when people with superficial faith ask me to pray for blessings concerning school, marriage, job, or a business because they may become less interested in God if they receive more blessings.
Spiritual apathy can be broken only by suffering, which makes the future unpredictable. CS Louis once said something to the effect that suffering is a microphone God uses when people don’t pay attention to Him.
For this reason, I become hesitant when people who don’t have faith ask me for my prayer when they are in trouble because I may deprive them of the golden opportunity to know God. Therefore, I pray that God rescues them from their troubles only after they come to know God through their sufferings.
Blessings are not always good, and sufferings are not always bad. We should keep in mind what Jesus said: What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? (Mark 8:36)

한국 교인 숫자가 급감하고 있고, 전도가 점점 더 힘들어지고 있습니다. 여러가지 이유가 있겠지만, 가장 큰 이유는 살기가 편해졌기 때문입니다. 장래 예측이 가능하면 가능할수록, 인간은 비 종교화 된다는 말이 있습니다. 맞는 말입니다. 이 사실을 유럽 국가가 증명하고 있고, 미국 교회가 증명하고 있습니다. 한국에서도 이것이 증명되기 시작하고 있습니다.
그렇기 때문에 건성으로 교회 생활만 하는 사람들이 축복 기도를 부탁하면, 갈등이 됩니다. 축복을 더 받으면, 하나님과 오히려 더 멀어질 수 있기 때문입니다.
같은 맥락으로, 이런 사람들이 역경을 당해서 기도 부탁을 해도 갈등이 생깁니다. CS Lowis는 고난이란 사람들이 하나님 음성에 귀기울이게 만드는 확성기라고는 말했습니다. 고난은 장래를 예측 불가능하게 만들어 하나님을 찾게 만듭니다. 이러한 절호의 기회를 무효로 만들고 싶지 않기 때문입니다. 그래서 기도 부탁한 사람에게는 미안하지만, 고난 가운데 하나님을 만나고 그 후에 고난에서 벗어나게 해달라고 기도합니다. ^^;
축복이 반드시 좋은 것이 아니고, 고난이 반드시 나쁜 것이 아닙니다. 예수님이 말씀하셨습니다. “사람이 온 세상을 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면, 무슨 이득이 있겠느냐[마가복음서 8:36]?”

목사님, 교인 숫자가 격감 한다고 하셨는데 그중에 저도 포함되지 않나 생각합니다. 저는 할아버지때부터믿음 생활을 하면서 열심히 신앙생활을 했던 집안에서 태어났어 어렸어부터 교회 나가면서 오래동안 신앙생활을하였습니다. 그런데 요즘 제가 온라인으로 예배를 자주 드립니다. 이유는 교회가 너무나 새로운 것으로 변화되어 가는것같습니다. 제가 교회에 나가는 것이 목사님 말씀에도 은혜를 받지만, 음악, 찬양하는 것이 너무나 좋았습니다.그런데 언제부턴가 찬송가,… 더 보기

김승권 개역 성경에 대해서 향수를 느끼시는군요. ^^; 저도 오래동안 머리에 각인되어 있는 금언 같은 성경구절을 새번역으로 인용하거나 암송하려면 생경하게 느껴지고 감동이 안 됩니다. 그러나 새 세대에 복음을 전하고 이들을 구원하려면 이들이 이해할 수 있는 성경 버전을 사용하는 것이 맞는 것 같습니다. 교회 배경이 없는 젊은이들이 개역 성경을 접하면 이해도 안 되거니와, 문화 충격을 받습니다. ^^;
