포기할 수 없습니다 (I Can’t Give Up)-영어/한글
I don’t feel like witnessing to people who vehemently criticize the Christian faith because I feel like there is nothing I can say or do that will lead them to accept Jesus. But I can’t give up on them because Apostle Paul was also adamantly opposed to Christianity before his conversion. If God was able to transform a person like Paul into a great evangelist, He is able to do the same with my VIPs.
I don’t feel like witnessing to people whose minds are totally occupied with money because I feel like they won’t be interested in spiritual things. But I can’t give up on them because Apostle Matthew was probably like that before he was called by Jesus. He was a tax collector who extorted money from his countrymen under the authority of the Roman empire. If Jesus could turn him into a person who wrote a Gospel and sacrificed his life for the Lord, He could do the same with my VIP.
I also can’t dismiss people who are not highly educated or have character flaws when considering positions of leadership. Apostle Peter was a simple fisherman, uneducated and impetuous. These were not commendable traits for a leader, but Jesus changed him and called him the Rock on which the Church was built. If Jesus did that with Peter, He may do the same with my imperfect friends.
We should not give up on people under any circumstances.

기독교를 강하게 비판하는 사람들에게는 예수님을 전하고 싶지 않습니다. 전해 봤자 믿을 것 같지 않기 때문입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 저는 포기를 못합니다. 사도 바울이 예수님 만나기 전에 이런 사람이었기 때문입니다. 기독교를 이단이라고 생각해서 기독교인들을 체포하여 투옥시키던 사울이 바울이 되었다면, 이 안티 기독교인도 바울 같은 믿음의 용사가 될지 모른다 싶어서입니다.
돈 버는 것 외에는 관심이 없는 사람들에게도 예수님을 전하고 싶지 않습니다. 돈에 눈이 먼 이 사람들에게, 예수 믿을 가능성이 전혀 없어 보이기 때문입니다. 그래도 포기를 못합니다. 마태가 예수님을 만나기 전에 이런 사람이었기 때문입니다. 로마 제국을 등에 업고 동족으로부터 세금을 갈취하던 세리 마태가, 복음서를 기록하고 에티오피아에 가서 순교하는 사람이 되었다면, 돈밖에 모르는 이 VIP도 마태같이 위대한 신앙인이 될 지 모른다 싶어서입니다.
스펙이 부족하거나, 성격적인 결함이 보이는 부목사나 전도사도 포기를 못합니다. 베드로도, 탁월한 교육도 못 받았고, 직업도 평범한 어부였고, 충동적인 성품을 가졌지만, 주님께서 교회의 반석으로 삼으셨다면, 결함 있는 이 사람도 베드로처럼 주님께서 크게 쓰지 않으실까 싶어서입니다.
예수 믿을 가능성이 전연 없어 보이는 VIP도, 스펙이나 자격이 모자라 보이는 동역자도, 포기할 수 없습니다.
