귀신 쫓기 (Casting Out Demons)- 영어/한글
A pastor friend sent me a book he authored called Cast Out the Adversary Within You. The book was about exorcism for oneself and by oneself. I never sought to cast out demons, but in the few times that circumstances obligated it, I was able to do so with some measure of success. Although I have never intentionally put myself in a situation where exorcism was necessary, I was experiencing something that I suspected was a demonic attack at the time I received the book. So, I followed the procedure described in the book, and the results were good. I felt the demons left me and sensed freedom.

In regard to casting out demons, Christians seem to be divided into two opposing camps. One group denies even the existence of demons, and the other attributes everything (including negative human emotions) to demons although negative emotions such as worry, fear, or hatred is a “natural” feeling that is a result of fallen human nature.
However, demons often work by attaching themselves to negative emotions and amplifying them to enslave people. When worry, fear, and hatred are amplified beyond our control, we should question whether demons may be involved in exacerbating the feelings. We should identify and name them with the emotions to which they are attached, like the demon of worry, the demon of fear, or the demon of hatred, then cast out the demons in the name of Jesus.
Two things are necessary before casting out demons: repentance and forgiveness. Demons cannot enter our lives without our consent. They enter our lives because we open the door to them. The event that allowed demons to enter us should therefore be identified and dealt with first. These events usually involve incidents where we were hurt by others. We must forgive the offenders and repent of our wrong responses. Then demons will lose their ground and flee when commanded in the name of Jesus. The literal name of Jesus seems to have tremendous authority in the spiritual realm.
One demon which is easily overlooked is the demon of imagination. It makes people imagine worst-case scenarios about the future and causes them to worry, fear, or hate excessively. This demon must be named and cast out.
Jesus cast out demons. So, pastors, especially House Church pastors who seek to restore the New Testament church, should be ready when occasions arise. Pastors should read books and learn from those who have been doing it so that they can free those who are suffering under the yoke of demons. But if they come across difficult cases, they should defer to those who are called to this specific ministry.

이윤호 목사님이 자신이 저술한 “내 안의 적을 추방하라( 베다니 출판)”라는 책을 선물로 보내주었습니다. 악령을 쫓는 사역(축사 逐邪)에 관한 책인데, 자신 안에 있는 더러운 영을 스스로 쫓는 방법을 다루고 있습니다.
어쩔 수 없는 상황에 밀려 제가 악령을 쫓은 적은 몇 번 있지만, 자신이 축사 사역을 받아본 적은 한 번도 없었습니다. 책을 읽을 당시, 제 안에서 더러운 영이 역사하고 있지 않나, 의심이 들 때라, 하루 금식하며 책의 내용을 좇아 내 안의 악령을 쫓아보았습니다. 그런데 신기하게 악령이 떠나는 것을 느끼며 자유함을 맛보았습니다.
악령에 관하여 크리스천들은, 존재 자체를 인정하지 않거나, 아니면 과대 평가하는, 양 극단으로 갈리는 것 같습니다. 후자에 속하는 사람들은 인간의 모든 부정적인 감정을 악령의 탓으로 돌립니다. 염려도 악령 탓, 두려움도 악령 탓, 미움도 악령 탓으로 돌립니다. 그러나 이러한 감정들은 인간의 죄성에서 우러나오는 ‘자연스러운’ 감정입니다. 이런 감정들이 증폭되어 자신의 힘으로 조절이 안 될 정도로 악화될 때 비로소 악령이 역사하고 있지 않나 의심해보아야 합니다.
악령은 부정적인 감정에 ‘찐뜨기’처럼 들어붙어서 이 감정을 증폭시켜 파괴를 가져옵니다. 죽이고 싶을 정도의 미움, 조절이 안 되는 염려, 억제되지 않는 두려움 등이 예입니다. 이러한 감정의 명칭을 악령에게 붙이고, 쫓는 것이 축사입니다. ‘미움의 영’, ‘염려의 영’, ‘두려움의 영’ 등을 예수님의 이름으로 쫓는 것입니다.
축사의 핵심은 회개와 용서입니다. 악령이 틈입하게 된 계기를 마련했던 사건을 기억나게 하여, 회개할 것은 회개하고 용서할 사람을 용서하도록 합니다. 이처럼 악령이 틈입했던 근거를 없애고, 예수님의 이름으로 쫓으면 신기하게도 악령이 떠나갑니다. 영적 차원의 세계에서 예수님의 이름은 엄청난 권세가 있는 것 같습니다.
축사 사역을 하는 사람들이 흔히 놓치는 것이 ‘상상의 영’이 아닌가 싶습니다. 아직 일어나지도 않았고, 일어날 가능성도 없는 일에 관해 부정적인 상상의 날개를 펴도록 해서 염려하고, 두려워하고, 미워하도록 하는 영입니다. 그러므로 상상력이 펼쳐지면서 부정적인 감정이 걷잡을 수 없이 증폭되면, “아, 상상의 영이 작업을 거는구나.” 즉시 깨달아, 예수님의 이름으로 쫓아야 합니다. 악령은 거짓과 어두움 속에서 일하기 때문에 정체가 발각되면 힘을 못 씁니다.
저는 축사 은사를 받은 것도 아니고, 전문가도 아닙니다. 그러나 성경적인 교회를 회복해 보려는 가정교회 목회자라면, 예수님과 사도들이 귀신을 쫓았던 것처럼 귀신을 쫓을 수 있어야 한다고 생각해서, 이에 관해 책도 읽고, 컨퍼런스도 쫓아다녔습니다.
심각한 경우라면 전문가에게 맡겨야겠지만, 가벼운 케이스라면 모든 목회자들은 예수님 이름으로 악령을 쫓아, 교인들을 자유롭게 해줄 수 있도록 대비해야 한다고 생각합니다. (가정교회 목회자 컨퍼런스에서는 악령으로부터 자유롭게 하는 법을 가르쳐주는 ‘삶공부’가 제공됩니다.)
