오늘날 예언의 은사(The Gift of Prophecy Today)-영어/한어
Some Christians claim that the gift of prophecy no longer existed once the New Testament was completed because there was nothing more to add to Scripture. I agree, but I believe that God still gives the gift of prophecy for the purpose of encouraging and comforting people and edifying the church, described in 1 Cor 14:3~4, “Everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort ...He who prophesies edifies the church.” There is no Biblical grounds to believe that this kind of prophecy ended. Moreover, such a gift is still needed.
I believe the Holy Spirit is still giving the prophetic words, but people are not aware of it. For example, when you counsel people in desperate situations and they share their struggles, don’t you sometimes feel a strong urge to say, “God is listening to you. He will help you out of this impossible situation soon.”? Those words may be prophetic words from God.
We rarely hear God’s audible voice, if ever. He speaks through mental pictures, Bible verses, or Biblical stories. However, His most common way to speak is through thoughts. Prophetic thoughts come like intuition, full of confidence and love.
When I preach, I try to make my preaching prophetic. So when I feel the Holy Spirit is giving me words while I am preaching, I incorporate a few spontaneous sentences into my sermon.
I try to make my counseling sessions prophetic as well. When I counsel, I focus on Jesus and wait to see if He has something to say. If I don’t sense words from him during the entire session, I often finish without giving any advice. Strangely, those I counsel often say they were helped greatly even when I didn’t give any advice.
When I pray for the people who come forward to make a commitment after I preach, I wait a short moment, just in case the Holy Spirit has words for the people I pray for. If not, I pray about what the person wrote on his commitment card. But if the Holy Spirit gives me words, I pray those words. And often people will tell me thankfully that my prayer reflected their inner thoughts.

예언의 은사가 신약 성경의 완성과 더불어 끝났다고 주장하는 사람들이 있습니다. 그러나, 이미 성경에 기록된 내용 외에 더 더해져야 할 예언의 말씀은 있을 수 없지만, 고전 14:3~4에서 말하는, 성도들을 위로하고, 격려하고, 교회를 세우는 예언의 은사는 그쳐야 할 이유도 없고, 그쳤다는 성경적인 근거도 없습니다.
성령님께서는 지금도 예언의 말씀을 주시는데, 예언이 무엇인지를 잘 모르기 때문에 인식을 못하는 수가 많다고 생각합니다. 어떤 성도의 고통과 아픔의 고백을 듣고 있을 때, “하나님께서 당신의 아픔을 같이 아파하십니다. 하나님께서 곧 고통에서 벗어나게 하실 것입니다.” 말해 주고 싶은 강한 충동(?)을 느낄 때가 있지 않습니다? 이것이 성령님이 주시는 예언의 말씀일 수 있습니다. 일인칭으로 말하면 “내가 너의 아픔을 알고 있다. 내가 너를 고통에서 곧 벗어나게 하겠다.” 하나님이 주시는 예언의 말씀일 수 있습니다.

오늘날 하나님의 육성을 듣는 경우는 극히 드뭅니다. 일생에 한 번도 없던지, 있다 해도 한 번 정도입니다. 일반적인 방법은 생각을 통해서입니다. 마음속에 그림을 그려주시든지, 성경 구절이나 성경에 기록된 사건이 머리에 떠오르게 해서 말씀하십니다. 하나님이 주시는 말씀이라는 확신 가운데 해야할 말씀을 즉석에서 주시기도 합니다.
저는 설교가 예언의 말씀이 되기를 소원합니다. 그래서 설교 중에 성령님이 즉석에서 주시는 말씀이라고 생각되면, 원고에는 없더라도 설교에 포함시켜 선포합니다.
상담할 때에도 성령님이 주시는 말씀을 기다립니다. 말씀이 없으시면 내 의견을 말해주기보다 경청하는 것만으로 끝내기도 합니다. (그럼에도 불구하고, 그 시간을 통해 해결책을 찾았다고 말하는 수가 많습니다.)
주일 예배 설교 끝난 후 앞에 나와 헌신하는 사람들을 위해 기도할 때에도, 성령님이 주시는 말씀을 기다립니다. 1~2초 정도 짧게 기다려서 별 말씀이 없으면 본인이 기도 신청서에 적은 기도문을 갖고 기도해 줍니다. 그러나 말씀을 주시면 본인이 적은 기도 대신에 성령님이 주시는 말씀을 갖고 기도합니다. 그럴 때 기도 받는 분들이, 내 기도가 자신 마음속 깊은 소원을 표현해 주었다고 놀라는 수가 많습니다.
