(3) Secularization
1) As the Christian faith has ceased to command universal acceptance, society has turned to other ideological basis.
2) For much of the world that meant adopting a new secular religion, Marxism-Leninism.
3) In the West, society is based on secular, non-religious assumptions. Religion is increasingly seen as a private affair for the individual, a matter of personal preference of which process has been encouraged by the emergence of a more pluralistic society.
