The Council of Constantinople (Pelagianism)
ÀåºÎ¿µ  2008-11-08 13:22:26, Á¶È¸ : 2,437

(5) Pelagianism

1) Pelagius was a huge man, broad and powerful, but slow moving and gentle, who arrived in Rome from his native Britain at the end of the 4th century A. D. He was born about A. D. 370.

2) He propounded his doctrines at Rome in the year 409, but his doctrines were condemned by the Council of Cartage in 418.

3) These doctrines were advocated by the Socinians and Unitarians. This theory hold that:

¨ç Adam's sin affected only himself

¨è every human soul is immediately created by God, and created as innocent, free from depraved tendencies, and able to obey God as Adam was.

¨é God imputes to men only those acts which they personally and consciously perform.

¨ê the only effect of Adam's sin on his posterity is that of bad example.

¨ë men can be saved by the law as well as by the Gospel.

¨ì physical death is merely the outworking of an original law.
