“네 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라 하신 것이요”

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”(NIV)
① 이 예수님의 말씀은 사분 설을 의미하지 않는다.
② 기독교 역사상 이 말씀을 근거로 사분 설을 주장한 일이 없다.
③ 기독교 신학에서 “마음”(heart)이나 “뜻”(mind)이 독립된 실체적 존재라고 말하지 않는다.
④ 이 명사들의 앞에 붙은 전치사나 부사인 “온”이나 “온전히”는 바울 사도가 인간의 구조적 부분을 말한 것이 아니라, 구조와 기능을 막론하고 인간의 총체적 강조를 위하여 사용하였다.
(5) 이 영, 혼, 몸으로 말한 것은 인간 구조의 부분들을 나타낸 것이 아니라, 온 몸(whole man)의 성화(sanctification)의 의미를 이해시키기 위하여 설명식으로 표현한 것이다 (Calvin).
(4) 히 4:12의 의미
“하나님의 말씀은 살았고 운동력이 있어 좌우에 날선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 또 마음의 생각과 뜻을 감찰하나니”
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”(KJV)
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”(NIV)
