Ex. Secular meaning: idea of \\\\"fortuitous,\\\\"timely; for the Christian, there is nothing \\\\"chancy\\\\" about it. God's activity is behind it.
1) Old Testament (Esther 4:14):
\\\\"who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?\\\\"
(1) the right time when the Jewish people were threatened would be just luck or chance, but it was not so for God's people.
(2) Here the idea is of a \\\\"divine initiative for creating an opportunity situation with in the course of the individual's life.\\\\"
2) New Testament (John. 7:6,8; Matt. 24:42-44; Matt. 25:1-13; Matt. 25:14-30)
(1) The right time for me has not yet come : for you any time is right....You go to Feast. I am not yet going up to this Feast, because for me the right time has not yet come (John 7:6,8). \\\\"being ripe\\\\"
(2) Kairos is a word heavy with hope.
(3) this word would be used to explain the meaning of his hour in history.
(4) The time has come. The kingdom of God is near (Mark 1:15).
(3) The Timing of the Kingdom
The message of the kingdom of God struck a responsive chord of expectation in his hearers. The idea that time had matured, that it was being fulfilled at that moment, called for a response a decision to appropriate what had long been awaited. Jesus suggested the appropriate response: \\\\"Repent and believe the good news!\\\\" (Mk. 1:15; cf. Matt. 4:17)
