1. Intensive Type of Expository Preaching

The Intensive expository preaching is the type of preaching that the preachers analyze and expound the ¡°text itself.¡± This expository preaching means the type of connotation in which he should intensively analyze and expound the text of the Scriptures in detail. The text of the Scripture should be precisely selected and correctly treated in itself verse by verse. The various elements of preaching text should be exactly analyzed, treated, interpreted, explained and applied one by one.

In case of using this preaching method, the intensive expository preaching may be apt to be deeply impressed with the Bible study in which the preacher teaches the introduction of the Bible. But this expository preaching has a very strong point of the sermon in which the preacher can fully deal with the words of the text selected from the Scriptures and analyzed.

Preparing Process:

(1) Select the text by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (Inspiration)
(2) Reading the text repeatedly (Reading)
(3) Analyze the selected text exactly (Analysis)
(4) Search the concept of the central passages (Exegetical idea)
(5) Search the theme of the central text (Homiletical idea)
(6) Catch out the topic of the sermon out of the theme (Topic)
(7) Deal with the selected passages precisely (Exegesis)
(8) Expound the passages focused on central text intensively (Exposition)
(9) Apply the expounded stories to the preaching context exactly (Application)

For example, if the passage of the Scripture, Matt. 18:3 ¡°and said assuredly I say to you unless you are converted and become as little children you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven¡± has been selected, hereafter the preacher has selected the word ¡°converted¡± and can make an excellent expository sermon with the topic ¡°Conversion¡± as following. And thus the preacher can make an expository sermon considering the system of conversion:

(1) new direction
(2) new spirit
(3) new situation

It means that the words ¡°become as little children¡± have been changed to a fresh fashion in a different way from the old. We call the aged man an old man, here it means the words ¡°old man¡± to be old, while ¡°the children¡± means ¡°the new,¡± namely ¡°the fresh.¡± Therefore the unified theme of the text means the image of the children as ¡°the new¡± or ¡°the fresh.¡± From the image of the children, we can see the image of the true Christian to be new and fresh. ✝️✝️✝️
