개털 모자냐, 금 면류관이냐? (The Crown of Tin or Gold?)-영어/한글
I heard a testimony of a Korean Christian who claimed to have died, gone to Heaven and come back to life. He said that he went to heaven and saw a well-known Christian leader wearing a tin crown instead of a gold one, insinuating that the Christian celebrity didn’t receive the heavenly reward he may have expected.
I am not sure if he really visited heaven, but it is quite possible that this famous leader didn’t receive great reward on Judgement Day because Jesus said, “Many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first” (Matt 19:30).
Such an inversive consequence occurs because our understanding of servanthood is faulty. Christians usually assume that their heavenly reward will be proportional to the work they do for the Lord. They believe a servant’s job is to work for his lord, but a true servant’s job is to fulfill his master’s needs.
So if you truly want to become a servant of Jesus, you will go where He wants you to be, not where you would like to be. You will do the work He wants you to do, not the work you enjoy doing. You will do ministry the way He wants, not the way you think is best.
A true servant may not expect to receive great reward on Judgement Day. Maybe the place where Jesus wants him to be is not noticeable, the work He wants him to do seems trivial, or the method He wants him to employ looks foolish. But the servant will receive a great reward because he has fulfilled the needs of his Lord. Then the last will become first, and the first become last.
I wish there were more Christian servants than Christian workers.

죽어서 천국을 다녀왔다는 사람이 이런 간증 하는 것을 들었습니다. 천국에 가보니까 잘 알려진 목회자가 영광의 면류관을 쓰고 있을 줄 알았는데, 개털 모자를 쓰고 있더라는 것입니다.
이 사람이 진짜 천국을 보고 온 것인지, 아닌지는 모르지만, 천국에서 면류관을 쓸 줄 알았던 사람이 개털 모자를 쓸 가능성은 충분히 있다고 생각합니다. 예수님께서 최후 심판에 관해서 이렇게 말씀하셨기 때문입니다. “첫째가 된 사람들이 꼴찌가 되고, 꼴찌가 된 사람들이 첫째가 되는 경우가 많을 것이다(마태 19:30).” 상급을 많이 받을 것으로 기대되었던 사람이 상급을 별로 못 받고, 상급을 받지 못할 것이라고 생각하지 못했던 사람이 상급을 많이 받으리라는 것입니다.
왜 이런 예상과 다른 결과가 생길까?
많은 사람들이 주의 종은, 주를 위하여 일하는 사람이라고 생각합니다. 그렇기 때문에 주를 위해 일을 많이 하면 상급이 클 것이라고 생각합니다. 그러나 주의 종은, 주를 위해서 일하는 사람이 아니라 주님의 필요를 채우는 사람입니다. 그러므로 진정한 종이라면 자신이 원하는 곳이 아니라 주님이 원하시는 곳에서, 자신이 하고싶은 일이 아니라 주님이 원하시는 일을, 자신이 원하는 방법이 아니라 주님이 원하시는 방법으로 해야합니다.
그런데 주님이 원하시는 자리가 남의 눈에 안 뜨일 수 있고, 주님이 원하시는 일이 하찮아 보일 수 있고, 주님이 원하시는 방법이 어리석어 보일 수 있습니다. 그래서 세상 사람들 눈에는 꼴찌로 보일 수 있습니다. 그러나 주님의 필요를 채웠기 때문에 심판 날에 첫째가 된다는 것입니다.
주를 위해 일하는 사람이 아니라, 주의 종이 많아지면 좋겠습니다.
