성경, 어떻게 해석할까? (How to Interpret the Bible)- 영어/한글
House church member are not easily persuaded by cult groups like Shincheonji because even new Christians are taught Bible interpretation principles through “Living Life,” an introductory Bible study.
There are four Bible interpretation methods.
First, spiritual interpretation. This method assumes there is a deeper meaning behind Biblical passages, so the focus of Bible interpretation is to find those hidden meanings. For example, in the parable of the good Samaritan, spiritual interpreters view the traveler who was robbed as the lost people of the world, the good Samaritan is Jesus etc. It is a favorite method for cults, including Shincheonji, the most widely known cult in Korea.
Second, the interpretation based on the Higher Criticism. The proponents of this method is highly rational, treating the Bible just like any other ancient documents and do not accept supernatural elements in the Bible, For example, they believe the fulfillment of prophecies didn't actually happen but the prophecies were written after the events took place. It’s been the major interpretation method for the mainline denominations in the West and the Liberal theologians in Korea.
Third, literal interpretation. The supporters of this method believe that the Bible, as written, is the word of God, and should be followed literally. The Creation Scientists tend to interpret the Bible this way. They believe that one day in the Creation story is a literal 24 hours, concluding that the earth is only 6,000 years old.
Fourth, the historical and grammatical interpretation, favored by House Church pastors. Their goal in this tinterpretation is to find the intentions of the original author of the passages. They accept the Bible as the word of God but recognize that some passages are meant to be symbolic while others are meant to be literal. By paying attention to context, they believe they can discern if the Biblical authors meant certain passages to be literal or figurative.
I believe Jesus and Apostle Paul would approve the fourth method.

가정교회는 신천지에 강합니다. 비신자를 대상으로 제공되는 13주짜리 ‘생명의삶’이라는 성경공부에서 성경 해석법을 가르치기 때문입니다.
성경을 해석하는 방법에는 크게 다음 네 가지가 있습니다.
첫째는 영적인 해석입니다. 영적 해석을 하는 사람들은, 성경에 기록된 문자 뒤에 더 심오한 하나님의 뜻이 담겨있다고 믿습니다. 이 숨겨진 뜻을 발견하는 것을 성경 해석의 목표로 삼습니다. 사마리아 인의 비유를 예로 들자면, 강도당한 사람은 구원받아야 할 백성, 선한 사마리아인은 예수님 식으로 해석하는 것입니다. 오늘날에는 신천지를 비롯한 이단들이 이 방법을 즐겨 사용합니다.
둘째는 성서 비평에 기초한 해석입니다. 이들은 성경을 다른 고전 문서와 똑같이 취급하여, 일반 문서 비평 방법을 성경에 적용합니다. 이들은 인간의 이성을 절대적으로 신뢰하며, 성경 기록된 초자연적인 현상을 부인합니다. 예를 들면, 예언이 성취된 것은 실제로 성취된 것이 아니라, 사건이 생긴 후에 예언이 기록되었다고 생각합니다. 서구의 주류 교단들과 한국의 자유주의 신학자들의 해석 방법입니다.
셋째는 문자적인 해석입니다. 성경의 기록에는 오류가 없기 때문에, 적혀진 글자 그대로 받아드려야 한다고 생각합니다. 창조 과학자들의 성경해석 방법이 이에 가깝습니다. 창세기에 기록된 각각의 창조 사건은 하루에 이루어졌고, 하루는 24 시간이니까, 지구 나이는 6000년밖에 안 되었다고 주장합니다.
넷째는, 역사적 문법적 해석 방법입니다. 이 방법은, 성경을 쓰신 분의 의도를 발견하는데 성경 해석의 목표를 두고 있습니다. 성경을 쓰신 분이 문자적인 의미로 썼으면 문자 그대로 받아드리고, 상징적인 의미로 썼으면 상징적으로 받아드립니다. 그리고 저자가 어떤 구절을 문자적으로 사용했는지, 아니면 상징적으로 사용했는지를, 문맥을 보아 알 수 있다고 믿습니다. 가정교회에서 선호하는 방법입니다.
넷째 방법이 예수님과 사도 바울이 사용하셨던 성경 해석 방법에 가장 가깝다고 생각합니다.
