가정교회 전도사 홍인규 교수(The NT Churches Were House Churches)-영어/한글
An academic group, called “Church and Theology”, was formed jointly by seminary professors and House Church pastors. The professors aim to make the House Church more Biblically sound and the House Church pastors will take advantage of their research results. This group was formed by Professor Hong In-Gyu of Baekseok Theological Seminary.
Professor Hong earned his Masters and Doctorate of Theology degrees from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He is an expert in Pauline theology and his work has been published in English in the U.K. He believes that Christians are incapable of truly understanding Pauline theology or the New Testament until they realize the New Testament church was the House Church.
After earning his degrees, he started a church in Korea. He hoped it would become like the house churches described in the New Testament, but unfortunately it didn’t succeed. Sometime later he was invited by a House Church in Suncheon in Jeolla Province to teach on the book of Romans. There he saw the Biblical church he had dreamt of. He has since become an ardent advocate of the House Church. He started a student club at his seminary that encourages students to start a church as the House Church after they graduate.
Professor Hong believes the House Church movement has now reached the point where a more solid theological foundation is necessary. He has started research with like-minded professors to lay the theological grounds for the true Biblical church, resulting in the formation of this group “Church and Theology”.
God has always raised the right people at the right time to make the House Church movement continue to grow and expand. Professor Hong seems to be one of those people called by God for this next phase.
A forum will be held on November 19, 2020 during which a couple of professors will present papers discussing the theological aspect of the House Church. This forum is sponsored by “Church and Theology.”

신학대학 교수들과 가정교회 목회자들로 구성된, ‘교회와 신학’이라는 동아리가 형성되었습니다. 신학자들은 가정교회의 신학적인 근거를 제공하고, 가정교회 목회자들은 이들의 연구 결과를 목회에 적용하는 것이 목적입니다. 이 그룹을 대표하는 분이 백석신학대학원의 홍인규 교수님입니다.
홍인규 교수님은 바울 신학을 전공한 세계적인 석학입니다. 남아공 스텔렌보쉬 신학원에서 신학석사와 신학박사 학위를 취득했는데, 박사 논문은 영국 신학계에서도 인정을 받아 책으로 출간되었습니다.
홍 교수님에게 교회론은, 가장 중요한 관심사 중의 하나입니다. 신약교회는 가정교회이며, 신약교회가 가정교회라는 것을 모르면 바울 신학도, 신약 성경도 바르게 이해할 수 없다고 말합니다.
홍 교수님는 신약적인 교회를 세워보기 위하여 교회를 개척하셨는데, 기대 만큼의 성과가 없었습니다. 그러던 중 최경학 목사님이 시무하는 순천강남중앙교회에서 로마서를 강해해 달라는 초청을 받아 갔는데, 그곳에서 자신이 꿈꾸던 신약교회가 실현되어 있는 것을 보게 되었습니다.
그후에 홍 교수님은 열렬한 가정교회 전도사가 되었습니다. 신학생들을 집으로 초청하여 가정교회 맛을 보게도 하며, 가정교회로 교회 개척을 할 것을 권장하고 있습니다. 홍 교수님은 이제 가정교회를 신학적인 정리할 때가 되었다고 느껴져서 ‘교회와 신학’을 형성하게 되었습니다.
가정교회 지난 날을 되돌아 보면 하나님께서 적절한 때에 적절한 사람들을 들어 쓰셔서 가정교회가 확산되도록 하셨는데, 홍 교수님도 그런 분들 중의 하나이신 것 같습니다.
돌아오는 11월 19일(목)에 ‘교회와 신학’이 주관하여 포럼이 온라인으로 열립니다. 백석 신학대학원의 장동민 교수님이 ‘코로나 19 시대의 한국교회’라는 제목으로, 이우제 교수님이 ‘삶을 변화시키는 요한계시록 설교를 위한 고찰’이라는 제목으로 발제를 합니다. 등록을 원하시는 분들은 다음 웹주소에 들어가 보시기 바랍니다. 등록 마감은 11월 16일(월)입니다. https://forms.gle/QSLZiAX1pCgmbV7k8
