¾Æ³»°¡ ³¯ ´õ ÁÁ¾ÆÇß´ä´Ï´Ù (She Loved Me More)-¿µ¾î/ÇѱÛ

When my wife¡¯s health started rapidly deteriorating, Mrs. Kil flew in from Korea to take care of her. She and my wife had been on the same ministry team at Seoul Baptist Church before she had moved back to Korea. As they spent many hours together, my wife told her a lot of stories, many of which she had never shared before.
Mrs. Kil shared some of these stories with me. One night my wife told her, ¡°My husband wasn¡¯t really good looking. I don¡¯t know why I fell in love with him.¡± Another night she said, ¡°Actually, I manipulated him into marrying me without him realizing.¡± I was quite surprised when I heard these stories because it had never occurred to me that SHE initiated our marriage. I didn¡¯t know she wanted me that much.
I knew she loved me because she took care of all the chores and domestic responsibilities, allowing me to devote all my time and energy into my ministry. But sometimes I wondered if she really loved me because she rarely expressed her feelings.
My lack of confidence in her love may stem from the residue of the inferiority complex I had about my looks as a teenager. I hated my flat-nosed face! On the other hand, my wife¡¯s beauty was always recognized and acknowledged. Some people jokingly likened us to Beauty and the Beast, and I agreed.
Since I didn¡¯t feel like she really loved me, I also felt like she didn¡¯t need me. I didn¡¯t necessarily feel sorry when I spent half a year in Korea, leaving her alone in Houston. I felt I was doing her a favor by staying away. Not having me around meant less work for her.
She was pleased and moved when I canceled all my scheduled events in Korea and flew back to Houston the moment I heard about her deteriorating health. As I started to take care of her in various ways - by making and serving her breakfast with an egg prepared precisely the way she liked and helping her go to the bathroom when she was wheelchair bound, she started to express her feelings along with her appreciation. We had the happiest life together during the two months before her passing.
I wish she had told me the things she¡¯d shared with Mrs. Kil earlier in our marriage. I would have been a better and more loving husband as my confidence in her love would¡¯ve been boosted.
When I go to Heaven and meet her, the first thing I¡¯d like to say is, ¡°You should have told me those things much earlier!¡±
