Àå¸ð´Ôµµ õ±¹¿¡ °¡¼Ì½À´Ï´Ù (My mother-in-law also went to Heaven)-¿µ¾î/ÇѱÛ

My mother-in-law passed away yesterday, August 4, at the age of 95. She had lived with us for the majority of her 43 years in America, but she spent her last several years at a nursing home due to her inability to walk. She also recently developed dementia. All visits to her nursing home had been prohibited due to Covid-19, and my daughter Christine and I were able to visit her only after we received the news that she had passed. The nursing home staff had found she¡¯d stopped breathing when they came to check her vitals. She must have left for heaven painlessly as though she had simply fallen asleep.
She had four children, my wife being the eldest. She came to the US to help take care of my family when Christine was born. She practically raised Christine, sometimes sharing a bed with her. My son, Danny, and Christine credit their healthy upbringing to their grandmother, especially in light of the ¡°benign negligence¡± approach my wife and I took in raising our children. ^^;
My mother-in-law had the innocence of a young child. She wondered and marveled at many things. She never stayed behind with other older people when we traveled. She enjoyed every new environment and experience she encountered, exclaiming, ¡°Oh!¡± or ¡°Ah!¡± She had an active curiosity, so showing or teaching her new things was fun. Whenever my wife and I had a disagreement she always took my side. That made me like her even more.
Soon after having back surgery, she lost strength in her legs and couldn¡¯t walk or move by herself. We moved her to a nursing home where she would receive the care and attention she needed. She started to lose her memory, then developed dementia. Eventually she wasn¡¯t even able to recognize her own son, who visited from out of state. (However she recognized me until the end.)
When I visited her at the nursing home before Covid-19, there wasn¡¯t much I could do with her. Conversation was out of question because she practically lost her hearing. So I gave her a big hug and a kiss on her cheek and sang the hymn ¡°Jesus loves me, this I know.¡± All four verses. Twice. Sometimes she sang along.
It was hard to witness a beautiful person like my mother-in-law breaking down physically and mentally. It is comforting to know she is now in Heaven in a healthy, beautiful, glorious spiritual body. By now she has probably reunited with her eldest daughter, who preceded her journey to Heaven about a month sooner. I believe my wife welcomed her mother with joy.
